A Mighty Thanks... and Where Do We Go from Here??!
over 1 year ago – Thu, Sep 07, 2023 at 03:06:05 AM

Hello everyone!

First off, a mighty thanks to EVERYONE who backed, shared, retweeted, beamed into space, sent out words of encouragement and otherwise helped this project become so successful - YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!

A mighty THANK YOU also goes out to all of the writers and artists who were involved in this project for making this zine so damn cool. Without you, this zine would not exist.

A massive thank you to DCC community member Loz the Eye for having the foresight and vision to make this project happen. Without him, the Eye Wizard never peers into this world to don one of its many hats!

So, where do we go from here?

Currently, the PDF is completed and proofs are being printed at the printer while we wait for the funds to clear. I have a good, long standing relationship with them and foresee no problems. As soon as that happens, the PDF will be sent out to backers and production will begin on the zine. Shortly thereafter, it gets sent to our warehouse outside of Baltimore and we go into the distribution queue.  With any luck, you guys will have your zines in no time!

Thanks again for supporting this zine. It means the world to Loz and I to see this book out in the world. YOU GUYS RULE!

Winding Down to the Last Few Days... You Guys Have Been Amazing!
over 1 year ago – Fri, Sep 01, 2023 at 09:17:33 AM

Just a quick update to once again express our appreciation for everyone who has turned out in support of The Closet of the Eye Wizard! You guys have been amazing and the love you've been showing this weird little zine is fantastic to see!

We've already ordered proofs for both versions of the zine and as soon as those have landed we should have some pics and further news for you. All in all, we are way ahead of schedule and with any luck we'll have this beaut' out to you guys in no time at all!

Before I dip out, there are a couple of really cool projects up on crowdfunding right now that I want to spotlight. These are both from fellow RPG creators who I respect and admire, so I want to shine some light on them for those of you reading.

One of the true standouts of indie RPGs is Justin Sirois of SEVERED BOOKS. Not only is he making great, creative content for players but then he goes and develops something like this to support vendors, small publishers and FLGS (friendly local game stores) everywhere. He is absolutely knocking it out of the park - check out his ZINE SPINNER RACK.

I have a bunch of pals over at Necromancer Games and they all contributed to their latest offering Tome of Horrors: Enemies of the Valiant. Over 200 new monsters and NPCs, featuring fantastic art by some great illustrators. Their ToH series has been going strong since the first whispers of third-party licensing back in the 3E days, so ushering in this many new foes and villains to the mix always means you're getting good content.

Thanks again to everyone who has backed our weird little zine. Your support means the world to me and I can truly say there would be no Planet X Games without you guys. For that, I am forever grateful.

All Hail the Eye Wizard - We Are Funded!
over 1 year ago – Wed, Aug 23, 2023 at 04:20:54 PM

Good evening everyone!

The last 30 (ish) hours of funding have been a wild ride and you guys really showed up for Closet of the Eye Wizard! The DCC community has always been a supportive, encouraging one but you guys knocked day one into the stratosphere!

Over the next few days we'll be dropping some peeks at the art inside this zine on social media and talking more about it in general. I'm on Joey Royale's Pizza Party with a few other guests tonight (look for the stygian mermaid!), as well as talking to both Alan Bahr and the Weekly Scroll about the zine this week. We're getting the word out on this cool book and all of the amazing creators involved in making it.

Real quick, I wanna shout out some other projects that are going on right now by amazing creators in the indie community. We're living in a golden age of indie RPG design and there's some remarkable content out there. If you get a chance, check these folks out:

Jeremy K. Shuman has a few more days left for WHERE SHADOWS FALL, a modern fantasy/horror/conspiracy hybrid that uses the DCC core rules.  You can find it HERE.

Thom Wilson is one of the few guys who makes me feel lazy because he's always putting out great content. His latest - PRISON PIT OF THE AGELAST KING - is an adventure for Shadowdark and if Tom's previous stuff is any indication, it's gonna be awesome. You can find it HERE.

The Neon Lord himself, Brian Shutter, has launched RIDERS OF THE BURPWARP/WARPSHINE RUNNERZ DOUBLE FEATURE and it looks absolutely insane! Check it out HERE.

... and that's it! Thanks to everyone who has supported this project so far. This community is simply the best. Loz and I appreciate you guys and this zine wouldn't exist without you.
